Question about clearing IE cookies?

After clearing cookies in IE, the index.dat file remains. What's in that exactly? Can all the previously set cookies still be read from the remaining index.dat and if so, how or with what utility? When I clear cookies, should I delete the index.dat also?

To clean out your index.dat file you can use a free program called CCleaner (Crap Cleaner). Get it from the link below. It will also remove other junk from your PC. Good luck!

Question about clearing IE cookies?safari browser internet explorer

Open Index.dat, and you will see
No they cant be read by the index.dat

and if you clear the index.dat - your system will need that file and your computer will not work if it is gone

just delete cookies
index.dat%26lt;%26lt;no only cookies
You cant delete the index cookie. It's responsible for helping with all the other cookies. It has hidden attributes that wont allow it to be deleted. When deleting the cookies in that folder, highlight the index cookie and then hit "edit" at the top of the page, then hit "invert all". It will then remove the highlight from the index cookies and highlight all of the other cookies instead. Then hit "file" at the top of the page and then hit "delete" and you're all done. never, ever ever delete a .dat file. those are you registry files, deleting them will destroy your windows install.
