i was trying to get yahoo to be my default client in IE 7 and it wasn't an option so i downloaded Yahoo messenger and then it was available so i chose Yahoo Mail as my default email client. now whenever i click Read Mail from IE 7 it goes to the sign in page for yahoo mail UK and Ireland? not that big of a deal but kinda strange. any ideas on how to fix that?

Change your YM setting to USA.
